PSV v Atletico Madrid - Tuesday 19:45, BT Sport Extra
These sides met in the round of 16 last season as not a goal was scored between them, before Atletico triumphed 8-7 on penalties. So it’s little surprise that Under 2.5 Goals is as short as 1.55 here, but after a slow start to the season Atletico put four past Celta Vigo on the weekend. PSV also netted four against NEC on Saturday evening, with their goals coming inside 25 minutes, as they cruised the rest of the game, no doubt with this fixture in mind.
Indeed, PSV have only conceded one league goal in their five games so far as they’re very well organised under Philip Cocu and that was certainly the case in the Champions League last term as five of their eight games saw fewer than three goals and seven were goalless at the break.
All three of Atletico’s La Liga games this term have also been goalless at half-time and as a result we’re going to back the 0-0 half-time score in what should once again be a very tight contest between two excellent defensive sides.
However, since Atletico have won only three of their 11 Champions League away games since 2014/15 while PSV won three of four unbeaten home games in last season’s competition, we’re going to take Simeone’s men on and back PSV or Draw Double Chance. Atletico tend to struggle to break sides down that sit back against them and since that’s likely to be the case here, we wouldn’t be surprised to see another 0-0 between these two teams.
