Tom Love has two tips for the second leg of Barcelona vs Napoli
Barcelona vs Napoli
It’s another well poised encounter on Saturday night as Barcelona play host to Napoli. Barca have been an intriguing team this season but have been far from their best, the team is ageing and it shows. They’ve been pedestrian in possession and lacking a real cutting edge when Lionel Messi isn’t firing.
One thing the Blaugrana will point to is their imperious home record in this competition. Incredibly, their last loss at the Camp Nou in this competition was over seven years ago as a rampant Bayern Munich tore them apart. If you’re that way inclined and value such overwhelming historic records then the 4/7 offering on the hosts might be for you.
However, we have to bare in mind that they have an away goal in their locker and a 0-0 would suffice for the, to progress. I’m usually loathed to back a team at odds-on when they don’t necessarily need to win and this Barca team simply aren’t what they used to be. They don’t attempt many shots under Johan Cruyff disciple Quique Setien, it’s more about having control of the ball and the game.
Napoli may let the hosts do just that and when they do dispossess them try and break quickly and clinically. I think it could be a game where both are happy to keep the chances to a minimum and that brings me to going against a goal heavy game.
I’m surprised we can get as big as 7/5 for under 2.5 goals here. It’s not like there is a big gulf in the scoreline so there’s no need for either team to be too adventurous. I also think the 13/5 on it being goalless at the break is also overpriced given the situation and I’m happy to have a point on both.
