Norwich v Cardiff - Saturday 15:00
Norwich are finding goals hard to come by, having netted just twice in their last four league outings, and the capture of Nelson Oliveira might not be the answer either. The Portuguese striker is no slouch but he’s not quite the stellar 20-goal marksman Alex Neil was originally in the market for, raising concerns about his ability to attract top talent.
Two seasons ago, Neil inherited a team lacking only the motivation and organisation to book an immediate return to the top flight, and he duly delivered on both fronts. Now something else is required because the Canaries lack the cutting edge provided previously by Nathan Redmond, or at least the space his penetrative runs would open up.
Nowadays, opponents are only too happy to sit back and let them have the ball and there’s value in the 3/1 about the under 1.5 goals bet copping for a third successive Norwich home game, especially against a Cardiff side that’s reached the 75-minute marker goalless in four of their six matches so far.
The Bluebirds, of course, are managed by Paul Trollope, who spent three years at Carrow Road, working alongside Chris Hughton. So he has first-hand experience of several Norwich players and should be trusted to devise a strategy that negates their strengths. A bet on no goalscorer at 11/1 is also worth having onside.
