Cagliari v Sampdoria - Monday 19:45, BT Sport 1
Promoted Cagliari have managed just four points from their five games so far on their return to the division at the first opportunity, but they’ve had some tough fixtures, having already played Roma and Juve. Sampdoria, meanwhile, have lost their last three after winning their opening two, though two of those defeats were also in tough fixtures against Roma and an improving Milan.
Cagliari in fact came from 2-0 down to salvage a point against Roma in their opening home game before they beat Atlanta 3-0 in their last game at the Stadio Sant’Elia. Indeed, they were excellent at home in Serie B last term as they had a W15-D3-L3 record and if they can remain tough to beat at home then that’ll take them a long way to securing their status in the top division this time.
Sampdoria have managed just three wins in their 22 road games since the start of last season, while they lost seven of their eight trips to bottom-nine sides. As a result, we’re siding with Cagliari to win and make it six points from seven at home and inflict a fourth straight defeat on Sampdoria, who have suffered a dramatic fall from grace after they finished 7th in 2014/15.
