After winning the Eredivisie four seasons in a row between 2010/11 and 2013/14, Ajax have finished runners-up in the last couple of campaigns. They started off with a win at Sparta and next up they have Roda, who have finished in the bottom five in each of the last three seasons.
Ajax have an excellent record at the Amsterdam Arena, winning 25 of 34 there in the past two seasons. What’s more, they’ve won 26 of 30 at home against bottom-five sides since 2010/11, leading at the break 21 times, while four of their five wins last term were by more than two goals as they were utterly dominant. Last term Roda were in fact better on the road than they were at home, but Ajax still hammered them 6-0 in this fixture.
Indeed, Ajax have won five of their last six home games against Roda by more than two goals and they certainly look like banker material for accumulators this weekend. We’re backing them to win comfortably and after new signing Mateo Cassierra netted on his debut, he’s worth a look in any goalscorer markets. The young Colombian was signed to replace the Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik, who scored 21 times in 31 league games last term, and spearheading the Ajax attack tends to be an invite to getting on the scoresheet.
