Manchester United went into the draw as the outright favourites to win the Europa League, at 7/1. They've had an excellent start to the season and the bookies reacted to that with many thinking that Mourinho is likely to take this competition seriously.
With their strong record in Europe in recent history they were seeded in pot 1, avoiding the likes of Villareal, Zenit and Athletic Bilbao.
They do have a tough looking draw though with Fenerbache and Feyenoord both very experienced clubs in Europe.
Southampton, on the other hand, went into the draw seeded in pot 3, having no recent European history to speak of. Considering their seeding and the calibre of other teams in the competition their odds were 25/1 prior to the draw.
They arguably have an easier draw than Man United though. Inter Milan are not the force they once were and they could have drawn a far more difficult team from pot 2 than Sparta Prague.
There doesn't appear to be a real group of death but you would have to say that Jose Mourinho's Manchester United have been very unlucky in Group A.
