Nancy v Lyon - Sunday 14.00, BT Sport 1
Nancy return to Ligue 1 for the first time since 2012/13 after they won Ligue 2 last season but they’ve been dealt a tough hand in their opening fixture as they host Lyon, who have won the ‘without PSG’ market in the last couple of seasons.
Nancy were excellent at home last season as they had a W14-D3-L2 record and only conceded 14 times, but this is of course a different kettle of fish. Pablo Correa’s men will however take heart from the fact that Lyon lost more on the road than they won last term and have also lost half of their 12 trips to promoted sides since 2012/13.
That poor record means that Nancy are certainly worth chancing in this one, particularly with Lyon’s star man Lacazette being strongly linked with a move to Arsenal. They’ve also lost three centre-backs in the transfer window, including Umtiti who’s joined Barcelona, and it could take a while for their replacements to settle in.
