Metz bounced straight back up to Ligue 1 after relegation in 2014/15 and their first task sees them host a super-consistent Lille side that has finished in the top-eight every season since 2007/08 and managed 5th last term.
Metz were decent at home when they were last in the top division and in fact managed to win four of their opening six at the Stade Saint-Symphorien before falling away as the season went on. Lille only lost four times on the road last term but did draw nine times as they certainly weren’t the best side to watch – their games saw fewer goals than anyone else in Ligue 1.
Indeed, Les Dogues have drawn half of their 12 visits to promoted teams since 2012/13 and the stalemate trend looks to have continued in pre-season as they’ve drawn three of their last five whilst scoring just two goals. As a result they look on the short side here at around 2.3 and instead we’re backing another draw and wouldn’t put anyone off having a few quid on the 0-0 at 7.5.
