The much speculated James Rodriguez has been linked with almost every big club in Europe and this morning Sport broke the news that Chelsea have moved ahead of Arsenal to sign the 25 year old. This comes after Fabregas was left on the bench for their game against West Ham last night and is wanted by Juventus and potentially Real Madrid, which really would be a surprise! Chelsea have money to spend this transfer window and Rodriguez would be a realistic replacement for Fabregas in the creative midfield role or as further strength in the wide areas. Even if Fabregas doesn’t leave, failure to resign Lukaku will leave Chelsea looking for a marquee signing, stamping Conte’s mark on the side.
The market for his club after the summer transfer window is an interesting one, with many of them being English. Staying where he is still remains the favourite at 1/5 whilst the 11/5 to move to PSG is shortest priced move away from the Bernabeu. Man United are the shortest priced English club at 10/1, whilst Arsenal have drifted to 15/1. City are also there on 15/1 too. If you believe the reports, 12/1 to Chelsea is a great value punt and it’s fair to say isn’t out of the question.
