Lily Waugh is bound to be all the rage following her impressive return to form at Wincanton over the weekend, but whether she’s up to lumping 12st 4lb just a few days later is open to debate. Given that Anthony Honeyball’s inmate is likely to take out a huge chunk in the market, it could be wise to look for an each-way alternative and in the shape of LADY OF LAMANVER(best price 5/1), Harry Fry’s charge rates the perfect candidate. Although she’s yet to win a race, she does arrive here off the back of a career-high performance last time when chasing home the well-regarded Out Of The Mist in a smart mares race at Uttoxeter, and as the pair pulled well clear of the rest in a decent time, the form should pay to follow.

MAX FORTE(best price 15/2) belied his 25/1 starting price when winning on rules debut at Wincanton and, because he shoulders a penalty for that victory, he is more than likely to be underestimated in the market once again. There was plenty to like about the way Chris Down’s charge jumped and galloped on powerfully all the way to the line at the West Country venue and as he clocked a final circuit time 1.7 seconds faster than the 130-rated Marracudja (won again since), he has the vital components of speed and stamina in abundance. Clearly, a flat, right-handed track suits, so it looks a shrewd move by connections to send the son of Indian River to the sharp contours of the Shropshire venue and despite being up against a useful-looking field, it would come as no surprise to see him punch above his weight once again.

ENNAADD(best price 11/8) had the misfortune to bump into a horse that clocked an astonishing 21.8 for the last two furlongs at Lingfield last time, so providing there isn’t anything of that calibre lurking in the midst, he should hopefully make it third time lucky. Roger Varian’s charge clearly took well to the polytrack surface following an eye-catching performance on debut and given that he was ridden positively at the Surrey venue, similar forceful tactics can bear fruit at a track where front runners are making hay at present.
