Tom Stanley has three selections from Saturday's meeting at Sandown.
Race of the day is the veterans chase at Sandown, unsurprising given the money up for grabs. I’m firmly on side with both of the Venetia Williams runners, a yard in good form as expected at this time of year. Relax is a course and distance winner just 3lb above that win and he likes testing ground. He’ll likely be near the pace but whether he will try and go with Creevytennant remains to be seen, hopefully not. He probably needed his reappearance and it may have been on the stiff side for him anyway. We should see better this afternoon. Renard is another one entitled to come on for his return. He goes well for Liam Treadwell, wants testing ground, and has scope for this trip though he’s yet to win over it in 9 attempts. 2lb below his last win, he’s a well treated horse on the pick of his form and a decent price.
Kayf Blanco is an improving horse that looks overpriced in the last at Sandown. Up a further 5lb from Cheltenham, he was unlucky that day and would’ve finished closer with a clearer run. Testing ground seems no trouble and the from of his Wetherby win has been well advertised. Relatively lightly raced for a 7 year old, we’ve far from got to the bottom of him and I’m surprised there’s double figures knocking around.
