Tom Stanley has two selections on this afternoon's seven-race Meydan card.
Have had a few bets at Meydan this afternoon. I fancy both Green Door and Banaadeer will fair better with changes of headgear, particularly the former whose trainer mentioned would strip fitter for the run and have the visor on when fully tuned up. The Grade 2 should go to Safety Check, he looks something of a banker. Next up is Sanshaawes in the 10 furlong turf handicap and I really fancy him. A few De Kock winners of previous years out here have been running well this carnival, as was the case with Sanshaawes last time. He, like a few of them, is a well treated horse now just 2lb above his last win and he’s well drawn to get handy in a race without much pace. That should suit given he faired best of those up with the pace last time in a deeper race.
Sanshaawes - 1pt @ 6/1
Nothing leaps off the page in the last, which is disappointing as I look forward to ploughing through these big field turf handicaps. There’s not a great deal of pace on which could well suit Al Saham from 3. Tannaf ran a mighty race last time in the Qatar Derby but he’s not well drawn here and a repeat early race position would be a worry. It may well be worth chancing the well treated Certerach who is a course and distance winner off 2lb lower a couple of years ago and won fresh that day too. He went on to win the Dubai Gold Cup that year so we know he gets further and although there may not be the required pace on, cheekpieces brought about improvement last time and they are retained. He looks overpriced in a race where plenty can be given a wide berth.
Certerach - 1pt @ 10/1
