Tom Gilmore has a two-point nap in the opening race at Wyong on Thursday.
Terang R2 No.14 - VINTAGE VALLEY
She looked a touch underdone and on face value was disappointing fresh at Wangaratta over 1000m two weeks ago, she jumped well but didnt look comfortable when asked to quicken amongst horses. She gets the blinkers on and to 1200m today which will suit, I think they'll elect to lead and take luck out of the equation. If she gets a soft enough time of it I reckon she might be quite hard to run down.
Terang R3 No.13 - SHAMPION
Really well related filly who I thought was fair on debut off the back of a solid jumpout at Flemington. Winner of that race looks well above average and the runner-up has since come out and run well in a midweek metro event at Sandown (this forms good!). Fitter/better for the run and getting to 1400m will be much more to her liking.
Pakenham R4 No.6 - SCANDIMANIA
Promising filly who won a slick debut race last September before being spelled. Resumed fresh at Sale when favourite but was quite disappointing, on review her rider said she failed to handle the soft track so prepared to forgive! Back on top of the ground will no doubt suit and she'll be better for the run. Can stalk a genuine tempo and peel off their back with 300m to go and be too slick.
Pakenham R8 No.9 - TIVACI
Like this colt, he measured up in good grade in the spring of last year which saw him finish on the heels of Mahuta (G1 class colt), Badawiya (3rd G1 Thousand Guineas) and Bassett. That form alone would have him going a long way here fresh but added to that fact is that he jumped out in terrific style 22/1 at Flemington over 800m. Won fresh over 1200m in his debut campaign and he can do so again.
Wyong R1 No.10 - TYPECAST (NAP)
Good filly this, the fact on debut mid last year she finished two lengths off Lake Geneva (Group class/Stakes winner) is a testament to that fact. Had a solid spin around to prep up for today at Rosehill 19/1 finishing second and she looked like she's returned a bigger/better galloper, good sign that the winner of that trial won at Randwick on debut a week ago. Not an overly strong field so im pretty confident she'll be winning.
