The Vale of York filly was a model of consistency last season and was gaining her second success of that campaign when beating Bowson Fred a length-and-a-half over five furlongs at Thirsk last August off a mark of 80. That effort suggests she has the beating of a lively rival in the shape of the Robert Cowell-trained Grand Beauty in the Racinguk.com/Daypass Handicap at Redcar and she is fancied to take this off her current mark of 86 before going onto better things.
Dark Command (4.30) could be ready to notch his first success at the same venue later on the card in the Pinnacle Racing Syndicate Shares Now Available Handicap.
The Michael Dodds-trained gelding appears to be improving with experience and put in a solid effort over seven furlongs at Musselburgh when failing by a nose from the similarly well supported 11-4 joint favourite Arizona Sunrise with the third three lengths adrift. The handicapper has raised him 3lb for that effort but he would have been in front of the winner in a couple of more strides and the step up to a mile on the forecast good to firm ground looks just what the doctor ordered.
At Windsor in the evening, Legendary Lunch (7.00) looks a sound bet in the Weatherbys Private Banking Novice Stakes.
The Richard Hannon-trained colt looks the sort to improve considerably for his debut over course and distance last month but was still good enough to overhaul the once-raced Copper Knight close home and score by a neck. The runner-up has since won the Lily Agnes Stakes at Chester in good style and Legendary Lunch could well book his place at Royal Ascot with a follow-up success.
At Leicester, it may be worth giving another chance to Duck A L'Orange (8.40) in the Henry Alken Handicap. The Michael Bell-trained gelding was sent off a well supported 2-1 shot for his handicap debut over an extended 11 furlongs at Windsor last month but finished last of five to the 15-8 market leader Michael's Mount. He has been dropped 2lb by the handicapper since and could be seen in much better light on this better ground.
