RacingUK's Tom Stanley gives us his verdict on Saturday's Racing.
The Super Sprint is as open as ever but one of the Fahey 7 has to go up. He has a good recent record in this, winning twice in 3 years and saddling 3 of the first 4 home last year, and has a few unexposed, talented sorts lining up. One of them is Lucky Mistake who may have gone off a 12/1 shot on his York debut but that wasn’t without his supporters. He ended up seeing plenty of daylight but running on well into 2nd despite the race developing away from him. I’m not sure if he’s well drawn in 9 in all honesty, though there is a fair bit of pace low, and he’s entitled to come on for that very promising debut. At a bigger price I want to chance Perfect Madge who has cheekpieces on for the first time. She has been trying to keep some pretty hot company this year and she ran well on 2nd start in lLsted company. She wasn’t at her best last time in the Albany but ground and trip may not have been ideal and I fancy she’ll fair better back over 5 on better ground. Jamie Spencer could be the ideal partner for her too.
Miracle Of Medinah was put up here last week only for him to to be taken out on the morning of the race. The same argument still stands though. I think he’s crying out for a mile and gets that here off what looks a very fair mark - 1lb below his Chester effort behind Sound Advice, form which has worked out well. He goes well at Chester but that’s a track which doesn’t really suit his style of racing and being produced off a strong pace at this more open track should play more to his strengths. He gets his ground and I like his chances at a decent price.
One more in the form of Illuminate in the Hackwood Stakes at Newbury. The Tin Man will likely be a warm order and it’s not hard to see why given the drop in class. There are some talented horses in here though and they could go off at generous odds if the support for the favourite continues. Illuminate didn't seem to get the mile in the Guineas and she didn’t have her ground at Royal Ascot. Excuses are thin on the ground today and this should really suit her if the ability from last year remains. 2nd in a Cheveley Park, she ran well out in America and that too is strong form. She’s very capable in this company on her day and looks well worth supporting.
