We reveal the three most backed horses across racing at Newcastle and Kempton.
STAR SHIELD (best price 9-2) was an eye-catcher last year with two wins over 1m, including at Ascot in July. The five-year-old ended his season finishing sixth over this course and distance back in November, but only a fraction shy of the winner. He’s received significant support in the market this morning, cut from 13/2 yesterday.
COLD FRONT (best price 1-1) looked set to win a big-field maiden at Newbury in October but was reeled in on the line in tough conditions. Travelling very well during that race, punters are hopeful William Haggas’ colt can improve on that effort here on the all-weather. City Walk is seeing support in the market this morning, cut from 6/1 into 5/2 in places. However, the favourite remains odds-on with some.
SHYMAY (best price 9-2) has been slashed from 8/1 all the way into as short as 7/2. George Margarson’s filly was beaten soundly at this track in February, finishing four-lengths back in sixth on that occasion. However, she’s come much closer than that previously and the market support for the three-year-old this morning is significant.
