We reveal the three most backed horses at Newmarket and York today
STORTING has been very well found in the market, having been as big a 10-1 last night, he is now the 4-1 second-favourite. He had a respectable three-year-old campaign, where he was unlucky not to win more than once, with three second place finishes. He will have no issue with the ground and Oisin Murphy is an eye-catching jockey booking; he is two from five for Mick Channon this season. Punters think he will make it three from six this afternoon.
QAADER was mightily impressive on debut at Newbury, winning by four lengths before coming second in the Coventry at Royal Ascot. He stayed on well at Ascot but just couldn’t get past Nando Parrado, who was a shock winner. Punters think he will go one better in the July Stakes today though, currently the warm 2-1 favourite.
BRIAN EPSTEIN was on the wrong side of the draw last time at Royal Ascot, finishing in third of the group of nine he was racing in on the far side. Before that, he was a promising second behind Cap Francais at Haydock. He has won on good to soft ground before, so he should be able to deal with the cut in the ground this afternoon. Richard Hannon’s four-year-old has been backed into the 3-1 favourite for the final race on the card at York.
