We reveal the three most backed horses on the opening day of the Cheltenham Showcase meeting
GALVIN has won three races in a row in Ireland since his second at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Well backed in the 2m4f Novices’ Handicap Chase at Cheltenham, he just found one too good in the form of Imperial Aura. However, the pair drew clear of the rest of the field by a fair distance. Sent off at 2/15, 2/9 and 1/4 since, he hasn’t put a foot wrong. This will be a far more challenging race but oddschecker users think he will handle the three mile trip and continue his winning streak.
BALLYWOOD has been backed into joint-favourite in this highly competitive handicap. Alan King’s six-year-old ran a pleasing race at Fontwell on seasonal reappearance. He also ran an exciting race in the Grand Annual at the Festival, finishing sixth. Now off a mark of 144, punters think he can get a well-deserved victory, having run with great consistency last season.
FUSIL RAFFLES made the perfect start to his chasing career when putting in an impressive display at Uttoxeter last month. The five-year-old put in a brilliant round of jumping, taking to fences in style. He went slightly off the boil in his final two starts over hurdles last season, but looks to have put that firmly behind him now.
