18:20 Kempton

The favourite, Win Win Power, is open to improvement and very much respected should he build on his victory five day’s ago but there were some signs to suggest he may not be entirely straight forward and a soft lead here is unlikely, so the filly ASCRAEUS (best price 11-1) is given the nod.

Her sole victory came at Wolverhampton on the back of a 252 day-break last year and since then she has only had a further two runs on the all-weather surface. A disappointing but easily excused effort at Chelmsford followed when drawn in stall 12 of 14 before an excellent effort here at Kempton. She produced a fine runner-up effort behind Conscious (78) despite being denied a clear run in the home straight on two occasions and that is a form line that ties in closely with many of today’s runners including the favourite. It's highly likely that granted a clear passage that she would have prevailed and that form would see her in with a strong chance in today's field.

She ran creditably on the grass in her final three starts of the season and signed off with a career-best runner-up effort at Windsor in October behind an 80 rated improver.

She is open to significant improvement now back on this surface and is unexposed after just nine starts. She has proven to go well fresh previously so the 107 days off the track shouldn’t be an issue and a repeat of her run here at Kempton in August will be enough to see her involved at the business end.

The four-year-old has finished in the frame in five of her nine starts and has been drawn well in stall 1 next to the likely pace angles in stall's 2, 4 and 5 so she should be able to adopt a prominent racing position and finish strongly. The jockey booking of Hollie Doyle gives off a positive vibe and on the balance of her form, a handicap mark of 67 is well within range so rates a solid each-way bet.
