Huddersfield vs Stoke Betting Tips
Betting Tip: Both Teams to Score
Friday night football takes us to West Yorkshire as high flying Huddersfield look to continue their fine form against a Stoke side who have largely flattered to deceive this season. Not a great deal was expected of Huddersfield this season but they’ve revelled in their 3-4-2-1 formation and Carlos Corberan deserves a great deal of credit for striking on a successful system and sticking with it.
The Terriers have a great balance about their side with wing backs Harry Toffolo and Sorba Thomas who have a massive 14 assists between them, they’re given the license to roam forward and get balls into the box for the likes of top scorer Danny Ward and Daniel Sinani. Midfield duo Jonathan Hogg and Lewis O’Brien have experience and energy between them meaning they don’t need to operate with a three man midfield.
They’ll be full of confidence for this one and punters may be looking at the 13/8 about a home win with surprised eyes but the one factor that may put them off is the erratic nature of this Stoke side. The Potters just haven’t been able to string a long run of unbeaten games together this season and there have been times where fans have questioned whether Michael O’Neil is the man for the job.
There’s at least been some life and energy added in the final third with Tyrese Campbell back in the fold as well as the emergence of D’Margio Wright-Phillips of late. New signings Lewis Baker and Jadon Philogene-Bidace have added quality to the squad too and a better second half of the season is expected from the visitors.
For all Huddersfield have been doing well going forward they have struggled for clean sheets with just two in their last 10 and one of those was a very fortunate one against Nottingham Forest where they shipped 23 shots. Maybe therefore the 10/11 on both teams to score makes the greatest appeal here, Stoke tend to score on the road but the home advantage and confidence in the home camp should mean they get on the scoresheet.
Betting Tip: Lewis O’Brien to be carded
Lewis O’Brien has arguably been the player of the season so far for Huddersfield coming off the back of a fine campaign last season. The all action midfielder is strong in the tackle and gets all about the pitch and is averaging a card every 5 games or so for the Terriers so the 11/2 on him to go into the book here just looks a little too big to ignore.
