Leg 1 Selections: Homer Stokes, River Wharfe

HOMER STOKES stayed on strongly in the closing stages to finish a decent sixth last time and that form has received multiple boosts since. He is 10-pounds below his last winning mark and the return to a mile has to be seen as a plus, so he’s of definite interest.

RIVER WHARFE has winning form at this course and is only a couple of pounds above his last winning mark, which came at Wolverhampton when he won easily, so from a good draw in stall one, he has a decent chance in leg 1.

Leg 2 Selections: Bluebells Boy, El Royale

With three last-time-out winners in the field, leg 2 isn’t easy, but BLUEBELLS BOY was a game winner from the front at this course last time and makes his handicap debut off a workable mark. He has undergone wind surgery since last time and is open to plenty of improvement, so he merits consideration.

EL ROYALE flew home from the rear to take third here last time and the handicapper has dropped him a pound which seems very generous, so he is worth inclusion too.

Leg 3 Selections: Furnicoe

This can go to FURNICOE, who has been knocking on the door of late with three consecutive seconds and remains on the same mark as when chasing home a subsequent winner last-time-out.

This filly from the Mick Appleby stable wouldn’t need to improve on what she has shown to date to finally get her head in front. She has to concede weight to all of her rivals but most of these need to step up on their previous form, so the top-weight seems the sensible option in leg 3.

Leg 4 Selections: Dusky Prince, Harb

DUSKY PRINCE was disqualified for causing interference when first past the post at Newcastle but even so, it was still a good performance and, under Taylor Fisher again, who offsets five-pounds, Archie Watson’s charge could make amends.

HARB is a course winner, who ran well when second in a class three here last time, and should give another good account of himself here. He has a good record at this course and has been granted a good slot in stall three as well in leg 4.

Leg 5 Selections: Savannah Smiles, Little Helen

SAVANNAH SMILES is an improving filly, who was third on her debut on the turf and only found one too good on her all-weather debut at Southwell last time. She will probably be more effective over a longer distance in time but should still be able to make her presence felt here.

LITTLE HELEN improved from her debut effort to finish second here three weeks ago and could be a huge player in this race with more to come.

Leg 6 Selections: Storm Catcher, The Bay Warrior

STORM CATCHER arrives in good form, who has won his last two starts over course-and-distance, and is drawn well in stall three. He is up three-pounds for that latest success four weeks ago but given his current mood, he has to be considered a major player.

THE BAY WARRIOR wasn’t far behind the former when fourth here last time and is two-time course-and-distance winner. He is a big player from a good draw in stall 1 with his rider taking off an additional seven-pounds as well.
