A shortlist of 12 has been announced for Sports Personality of the Year and we now have a new favourite across the board.

In what is now shaping up to be a head-to-head, Andy Murray, who was as big as 5-2 only 24 hours earlier, is now a best price of 10-11.

Murray, who won SPOTY in 2013, is the ‘now’ contender having spearheaded Great Britain’s sensational Davis Cup success at the weekend and the Scot looks a shoe-in to be in the top three at the very least.

Murray’s main market rival is World and Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill, who was as big as 25-1 earlier in the year but the golden girl of British athletics took Beijing by storm, sending her price into freefall.

The Sheffield-born star was the 5-4 favourite prior to the shortlist being announced but she has now been usurped by Murray who appears to have much more momentum in his challenge.

Fury Fever has gripped the nation since the lumbering scourser earned a hard-fought points win over reigning champ Wladimir Klitschko in Berlin on Saturday night. However, the dad-to-be is a bit of a marmite character and his price has drifted out markedly from the top show of 6-1 on Monday. He’s as big as 12-1 now.
Tyson Fury - 1pt @ 12/1
Lewis Hamilton bagged his third F1 World title with ease this year but he doesn’t have the rapport with the general public that the market leaders have and Hamilton is as big as 20-1 now having been around half that price prior to the shortlist announcement.

Of those at much bigger prices, the pick could be Rugby League ace Kevin Sinfeld who was an unconsidered three-figure price 24 hours earlier but the Leeds Rhinos star is no bigger than 20-1 after making the shortlist.
