As Mel and Sue call it a day, lets look at the odds of who could replace them.
It’s been an emotional week for Great British Bake Off fans. First the news that the nation’s favourite TV programme would be moving to Channel 4 and then the bombshell that Mel and Sue are quitting as hosts of the show. How will we cope?
Their displeasure at the show leaving the BBC and moving across shores was the main reason Mel and Sue gave in a statement, which read: “We made no secret of our desire for the show to remain where it was… we’re not going with the dough.” Very good.
But who will be the next presenters? If you can bear thinking about who might replace the duo then we’ve got odds for you. The front-runner is currently Clare Balding at 8/1. Hmmm. 2015 Bake Off winner, Nadiya Hussain, is best-price 25/1, a Holly Willoughby/Fearne Cotton double act is 33/1, whilst the Chuckle Brothers are an outsider at 500/1.
Despite the doom and gloom, we do have a fresh episode to look forward to this evening. Every cloud.
