Reading college football betting odds is easy. If you’ve already bet on the NFL before, you’ll already be familiar with how it works.
Just like pro football and other sports, ACC football odds are displayed in the “American format” here in the US. This means they’ll be shown as a number (usually three or four digits, but sometimes more) with a + or - sign before them.
The smaller the number, the better the odds. Here are some example odds to win the ACC conference to show this working in practice.
● Clemson Tigers -800
● Miami Florida Hurricanes +700
● North Carolina Tar Heels +900
● Louisville Cardinals + 2200
In this instance, the Clemson Tigers have the best ACC championship odds, making them the favorite.
The odds also show you how much you would receive from a winning bet. In the case of Clemson, you’d have to bet $800 to win $100 (though you’d get $900 in total as the stake is returned).
However, a $100 bet on the Hurricanes would yield $800 (your $100 stake plus winnings of $700)Before you place your wagers, it’s also worth checking what free bets are available from your chosen sportsbook as this can help your money go further.
There are 14 teams in the ACC Conference and they all theoretically start the season with the same mathematical chance of winning the ACC Championship Game. In reality, this isn’t the case as oddsmakers will assess factors like track records, rosters, resources, and coaches before the season and then also consider injuries, performance so far, and remaining schedule to set the current ACC tournament betting odds.
Based on their impressive track record, Clemson have been the stand-out favorite since the 2021 ACC championship odds were first released. This may change as the season gets underway, but the other teams have a lot of work to do if they want to win the ACC Championship Game this season.
Throughout the season, our team of handicappers will also be providing their expert insight into the ACC Conference and the ACC Championship game. If you’d like to see who they think has a good shot at winning the ACC Championship game this season, head on over to our college football picks page.
Odds to win the ACC Conference will fluctuate in the run-up to, and throughout, the college football season. Based on the college’s long track record of success in recent years, the Clemson Tigers have had the best ACC championship odds since the market opened earlier in the year.
Here’s a rundown of each team’s ACC Tournament betting odds at present.
Clemson Tigers have won the ACC Conference every year since 2015. They also won in 2011 and appeared in the Championship Game in 2009. Despite losing four key players in the NFL Draft, much of the structure that made Clemson Tigers successful for most of the last decade remains in place for 2021.
For that reason, oddsmakers believe that Clemson is the clear favorite to win again this year and have given them the best ACC tournament betting odds by a long way.
Despite a poor showing in 2020, finishing the year with a dismal 4-7 record, the Lousiville Cardinals have been given strong ACC football odds for the 2021 season. Being in the Atlantic Division does pose a big challenge though as they need to beat Clemson to get into the Championship Game.
The Florida State Seminoles are the only team to have beaten the Clemson Tigers since 2011. They are the second most successful team in the ACC Conference after the Championship Game was introduced in 2005, with six appearances and three wins.
After floundering in the bottom half of the Atlantic Division for much of the last five years, the Seminoles don’t currently look to pose much of a threat to Clemson.
The North Carolina State Wolfpack were given long odds to win the ACC Conference when the market first opened and haven’t seen much movement so far. They do have some strong talent on the team though, so they shouldn’t be written off just yet.
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons face an uphill battle to make it into the ACC Championship game with a number of strong contenders in the Atlantic Division. They had some of the worst odds to win the ACC conference when markets opened and little has changed so far.
The Boston College Eagles also didn’t start out with great odds to win the ACC conference, albeit they have been looked on more favorably by sportsbooks than the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
Syracuse Orange currently has the worst odds to win the ACC Conference after finishing 2020 with an abysmal 1-9 record. That’s going to require a lot of work to reverse those fortunes and in a division where the Clemson Tigers are almost certainly going to make it to the ACC Championship Game, oddsmakers don’t currently see the team making any waves in 2021.
