According to DraftKings, 34% of all bets are predictably on the Braves to win the division again, the most in the East. However, a whopping 48% of the money is on the Mets to make a shock play for the NL East crown, despite only 19% of all bets backing them.
The Braves are +215 to win the division, with the defending World Series champion Nationals at +260, the Mets at +300, the Phillies at +350 and the longshot Marlins entering 2020 with +25000 odds to win the NL East.
Atlanta boasts one of the best lineups in baseball and perhaps the game’s most promising young superstar in Ronald Acuña Jr. This offseason, they added Marcell Ozuna, Cole Hamels and Yasiel Puig to an already loaded roster. Even though Hamels and Puig won’t be ready to start the abbreviated season, they will still be a threat to win a pennant.
Meanwhile, the Mets have almost half the money on them and have not done much to improve on last year’s team that finished third in the division. New York added Rick Porcello, Michael Wacha and Dellin Betances, but lost Zach Wheeler to free agency and Noah Syndergaard to injury.
