It’s hard not to root for the Atlanta Braves. It’s a team full of explosive young talent on offense and in the rotation, and features enough veteran leadership and play from guys like Freddie Freeman and Marcell Ozuna to make a difference.

This combination has not only led to success in popularity among fans, but also success on the diamond. After winning the NL East, the Braves swept the Cincinnati Reds in the opening round of the playoffs to set up a NLDS matchup with division rival Miami Marlins.

Now, after a furious comeback effort in Game 1 of the series, the Braves are the most popular pick in the last 24 hours to win the World Series.

Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins Odds

Led by 22-year-old superstar Ronald Acuna Jr., the Braves homered three times, including twice in a six-run seventh inning, to come back and defeat the Marlins in Game 1 of the NLDS.

Acuna Jr., who is hitting .318 in 204 career plate appearances against the Marlins, led off Tuesday’s Game 1 with a monster home run to right-center field and admired the bomb before tossing his bat. The Marlins apparently took exception to his reaction and, leading 4-1, proceeded to hit Acuna Jr. in his next plate appearance.

Not only is it a terrible move to hit someone with a 97 MPH fast ball for simply celebrating hitting a home run, but it also apparently woke the Braves up.

Now, the underdog Marlins have to try and keep up with a star-studded lineup that features Acuna Jr., Freeman, Ozuna, Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley, Dansby Swanson and Travis d’Arnaud from a 1-0 hole in a best-of-five series.

The Braves are -192 to win Wednesday’s Game 2 as starting pitcher Ian Anderson faces off against Miami starter Pablo Lopez. At -650 to win the entire NLDS series, Atlanta has an implied probability of 86.7% of making an appearance in the 2020 NLCS.

Atlanta Braves World Series Odds

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Atlanta Braves are +600 to win the 2020 World Series. Those odds are the fourth shortest in Major League Baseball behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (+230), New York Yankees (+400) and Tampa Bay Rays (+450).

In the past 24 hours, a whopping 58.54% of all World Series futures wagers are on the Braves to win their first title since 1995 and their fourth in franchise history.

The Braves still have a long way to go. If they were to dispatch of the Marlins they’d still have World Series favorite LA in front of them, but at +600, bettors seem to like the price.
