World Series Odds: Braves Lead World Series Bets, Yordan Alvarez MVP Favorite

The 117th installment of the World Series is set to get underway with the Atlanta Braves taking on the Houston Astros in the fall classic. During the regular season, Houston was the better team winning 95 games and making their third appearance in the World Series over the past five seasons.

As for Atlanta, it wasn’t the regular season they were hoping for winning the National League East with just 88 wins. As the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals proved, all you have to do is get into the playoffs, because then the regular season gets thrown out the window.

With the Atlanta Braves run, first over the Milwaukee Brewers then over the Los Angeles Dodgers, the public has loved the Braves as of late. In the last 24 hours, 53.57% of the bets coming in are on the underdog Braves to win it all.

Yordan Alvarez is the favorite to take home the MVP award at +850 odds. After an impressive showing as a rookie in 2019, he only played two games in 2020. During the regular season this year he was a monster slashing .277/.346/.531 with 33 home runs and 104 RBI on the season. Alvarez was on fire in the ALCS going .522/.538/.870 with a 1.408 OPS against Boston.

The leader for Atlanta is Freddie Freeman and it’s easy to see why. In the playoffs, he’s had an OPS over 1.000 in the NLDS and NLCS and he has three homers in 10 games so far. He’s been the face of Atlanta ever since Chipper Jones retired and if Atlanta is to pull off the upset on Houston in this series, they’re going to need a big-time performance from their star.
