Oddsmakers believe this is going to be a strong season for the Mets. They’re given +150 odds to win the NL East, just edging out the Braves at +160 to be the favorite. They have +500 odds to win the National League, second only to the Dodgers’ +320. Most importantly, they’re third on the World Series odds market at +1200, behind only the Dodgers +700, and the Astros +1000.

The +1200 World Series odds is actually a decline from last year when they were given +1000 odds prior to Opening Day. However, their +500 odds to win the National League is a slight improvement over their +550 odds from 2021.
Odds | Rank | Market | Implied chance |
---|---|---|---|
+1200 | 3rd in MLB | World Series | 7.7% |
+500 | 2nd in NL | National League | 16.7% |
+150 | 1st in NL East | NL East | 40% |

The Mets have a long history of great pitching. Their seven Cy Young award winners ties them for second-most by a franchise all-time. Oddsmakers expect them to improve upon that mark this year. Jacob deGrom is given +400 odds to win this year’s NL Cy Young, and his biggest rival is teammate Max Scherzer at +800.

On the flip side, the Mets have never won an MVP award and oddsmakers think it’ll be difficult to do so this year. Both Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor are given +3000 odds to win the NL MVP, which puts them 7th on the odds market. A marked drop from 2021 when Lindor was given +2200 odds to win the award and was among the top-5 on the market.
Lastly, oddsmakers don’t see much chance for the Mets to win the NL Rookie of the Year. Mark Vientos and Brett Baty are both on the market at +9000, but that puts them tied for 32nd on the market. Only four potential rookies have worse odds.
Market | Odds | Implied chance | Rank |
---|---|---|---|
Cy Young | +400 | 20% | 1st in NL |
MVP | +3000 | 3.2% | 7th in NL |
Rookie of the Year | +9000 | 1.1% | 32nd in NL |
