ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+75000)
At 30-35, the Diamondbacks are exceeding their pre-season expectations. However, they’re still in arguably the toughest division in baseball and look up to the Padres, Dodgers, and Giants in th standings. This is a developmental year for the Snakes and they’re still a couple of years away from being a threat to the heavyweights in the N.L. West.
ATLANTA BRAVES 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+1400)
It appears the Braves’ World Series hangover has passed. The champs are riding a 14-game win streak heading into their weekend series with the Cubs and have narrowed the gap to just 4.0 games between themselves and the Mets in the N.L. West. Atlanta still boasts one of the most dangerous bullpens in baseball with Kenley Jansen (18/21 save opportunities), A.J. Minter (15 holds), Collin McHugh (5 holds), and Will Smith (7 holds). If Kyle Wright (7-3, 2.57 ERA) can continue to dominate and round out the top of the rotation, the Braves may be a threat to repeat as world champions.
BALTIMORE ORIOLES 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+100000)
Similar to the Diamondbacks above, it’s a developmental year for the Orioles. Baltimore has a decent core with Ryan Mountcastle (.267, 12 HR), Anthony Santander (.238, 11 HR), Austin Hays (.291, 8 HR), Trey Mancini (.290, 6 HR), and Cedric Mullins (.243, 6 HR), but they’re still a ways off from competing. Not to mention, it’s hard to compete when the team’s ownership isn’t fully invested in putting a competitive team on the field every night.
BOSTON RED SOX 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+4000)
The Red Sox are finally heating up after a slow start to the season. They’ve gone 8-2 over their last 10 games, but still sit 12.5 games behind the Bronx Bombers in the East. The biggest issue holding Boston back is their pitching. If they can bring in someone like Frankie Montas to bolster the rotation along with solidifying the bullpen, it could be worth a shot to play the Red Sox as a dark horse team to win the World Series.
CHICAGO WHITE SOX 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+2000)
The White Sox have been ravaged by injuries this season. And those who haven’t done a stint on the IL are underperforming. Despite the injury woes, underperforming play, and questionable managerial tactics, the Sox are hovering around .500 at 30-31. I still like them to win the A.L. Central (5.0 GB of MIN), but they’ll need everything to go right down the stretch if they want a chance to hoist the Commissioner's Trophy in the fall.
CHICAGO CUBS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+50000)
The Cubs and their fanbase seem to be fully embracing the rebuild. They’re in fourth place in the Central and riding a nine-game losing streak heading into the weekend. They’re pretty far away from contending for a title so look for them to potentially move Marcus Stroman (2-5, 5.32 ERA) at the deadline and collect more prospects.
CINCINNATI REDS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+100000)
After a historically bad start to 2022, the Reds have rebounded and played mediocre baseball over the last 40 games. There weren’t high expectations entering the season as Cincinnati saw the departure of Eugenio Suarez, Jesse Winker, Nick Castellanos, and Amir Garrett. The Reds seem to be in baseball limbo at this point.

CLEVELAND GUARDIANS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+10000)
The Guardians boast one of the best starting rotations and continue to develop their young pitchers better than anyone in baseball. However, their offensive production is lacking as Cleveland currently ranks eighth in team batting average (.251) and they’re 16th in OPS (.705). Jose Ramirez (.307, 16 HR) can only carry this team so far. The Guardians could really use someone like… hmmm.. Francisco Lindor to put them over the top.
COLORADO ROCKIES 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+100000)
Colorado started off red hot, but they’ve cooled off and fallen to last place in the West (12.5 GB of SD/LAD). They have a lot of scouting and developmental work to do over the next couple of seasons if they want #Rocktober to return.
DETROIT TIGERS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+50000)
Personally, I had high expectations for the Tigers heading into the 2022 season. I mean, I wasn’t expecting them to make a run at the World Series, but I thought their ceiling was second place in the division. Instead, Detroit’s move to bring in Javier Baez has been a flop (.188, 3 HR), Spencer Torkelson is experiencing rookie woes (.178, 4 HR), and Riley Greene still hasn’t been called up to the big leagues yet. Detroit also lost Casey Mize to ligament damage in his throwing arm, so things just aren’t going as planned in Motown.
HOUSTON ASTROS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+700)
Justin Verlander. There were questions surrounding the 39-year-old veteran entering the season, but he’s silenced any of the critics that were out there. Verlander’s 8-2 with a 1.94 ERA (7th) and 0.81 WHIP (1st) over 12 starts this year. Verlander and Framber Valdez (6-3, 2.64 ERA) are a great one-two punch and with Lance McCullers Jr.’s return on the horizon, the ‘Stros will be dangerous in October. Furthermore, they quietly boast the best bullpen in baseball, owning the league’s lowest ERA of just 2.66. I really like the way this team is constructed and I’m expecting they’ll make a run to at least the ALCS this year.
KANSAS CITY ROYALS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+100000)
The Royals have failed to develop their young pitchers over the last couple of seasons. Brad Keller (1-8, 4.74 ERA), Brady Singer (3-1, 4.24 ERA), Daniel Lynch (2-6, 5.50 ERA), and Kris Bubic (0-4, 8.36 ERA) were all highly touted prospects and none of them have delivered in the big leagues. Similar to the Reds above, this team is in baseball limbo.
LOS ANGELES ANGELS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+4000)
The Halos are 29-35 and 10.5 games behind the Astros in the West. They have arguably two of the best players in the world at the top of their lineup, but they’re still unable to string together a winning streak. I’m tired of not seeing Mike Trout in the playoffs and I think we’re in for another Trout-less postseason in 2022.
LOS ANGELES DODGERS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+375)
On the other side of town, the Dodgers are living up to the expectations and continue to dominate the National League. However, they’ve gone just 4-6 over their last 10 games and got swept by the Giants last weekend. The Padres also moved into a tie for first place in the division. Walker Buehler and Dustin May are still sidelined until at least mid August, so Los Angeles will need to rely on their offense to slug their way to a division title. If Buehler is unable to go for the postseason, I would take a pass on the Dodgers to win the World Series.
MIAMI MARLINS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+15000)
Sandy Alcantara (6-2, 1.68 ERA) and Pablo Lopez (4-2, 2.30 ERA) could be considered one of the best one-two punches in the big leagues. But aside from that starting duo and Jazz Chisholm (.246, 13 HR), there isn’t much to write home about with the Fish. This team is still a couple of years away from competing for a championship.

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+1600)
Every team has highs and lows throughout the season. The Brewers are going through a low period right now, going just 2-8 over their last 10 games. I’m not selling on the Crew yet as I’m confident they’ll turn it around. They have the best overall pitching staff in the league with Corbin Burnes (4-4, 2.52 ERA), Eric Lauer (5-2, 3.36 ERA), Brad Boxberger (13 holds), Devin Williams (14 holds), and Josh Hader (19/20 save opportunities). If they can add a piece like Josh Bell; a guy who can hit for both average and power, I would easily consider this team a contender in October. But if they don’t add a bat or two, I’m out on the Crew.
MINNESOTA TWINS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+3500)
The Twins have had a lot of things go right this season and they’re currently the frontrunners in the A.L. Central. But, pitching is a question mark for this team and it will be something that they need to address at the deadline. I would consider Minnesota a frugal franchise and I don’t think they’ll add the necessary pieces to contend for a World Series. Look for the White Sox to come back and win the division, forcing the Twins to play for a spot in the Wild Card.
NEW YORK YANKEES 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+500)
The Yankees currently own the second-shortest odds to hoist the Commissioner’s Trophy this year. Everything, and I mean everything has gone right for the Bombers this year. They lead the league in both OPS (.763) and home runs (100) through the first 60+ games of the year. Aaron Judge is crushing the ball this season and leads the team in batting average (.313) and home runs (25). As long as the Yankees stay healthy, I don’t see a world in which we get another edition of New York vs. Houston in the ALCS.
NEW YORK METS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+700)
Things are going well on the other side of town. The Mets are in first place in the N.L. East and hold a 4.0-game advantage over the surging Braves. New York has been able to weather the storm with their top starting pitchers in Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom going to the IL. Even when the duo of Cy Young winners return, the Mets will have their hands full in the division. I would like to see a slightly higher payout than 7/1 for New York to win the World Series.
OAKLAND ATHLETICS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+100000)
The A’s punted this season away as they disposed of Matt Chapman and Matt Olson just prior to the start of the year. Frankie Montas will be on the move next, which should provide a good haul of prospects. Give it a couple of seasons and the frugal Athletics will construct a playoff roster again.
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+3000)
The Phillies have underperformed this season. So much so that ownership was forced to fire Joe Girardi two weeks ago. Since then, Philadelphia rattled off a nine-game winning streak and moved within 3.5 games of the Wild Card. They may make a run at the playoffs, but the pitching staff is not constructed correctly to advance out of the Wild Card round.
PITTSBURGH PIRATES 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+75000)
The Pirates are just 1-9 over their last 10 games and that span of play has seen them slide to 25-37 on the year. It’s a developmental year for the Pirates and they’re nowhere near where they need to be to make a run in October. Look for Pittsburgh to field offers for Jose Quintana (1-4, 3.53 ERA) at the deadline and hopefully bring back a decent pool of prospects.

SAN DIEGO PADRES 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+1400)
The Padres are heating up and entered Thursday’s action with a share of the lead in the N.L. West. Joe Musgrove (7-0, 1.64 ERA) and the emergence of MacKenzie Gore (4-2, 2.50 ERA) have solidified the Friars as a contender in the National League. I think there’s value to be had here at 14/1. And remember, Fernando Tatis’ return isn’t too far off. If he’s able to ramp up his production in the final two months, San Diego will have a great opportunity to get to the World Series.
SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+3500)
San Francisco is 35-27 on the year and they’re currently 4.0 games behind the Padres and Dodgers in the West. I’d say they’re exceeding expectations this year as they saw Buster Posey and Kris Bryant depart over the offseason. The addition of Joc Pederson (.269, 13 HR) has helped offset those moves and this team should find themselves vying for the final Wild Card spot in the National League. However, I don’t think the Giants have the offensive power to make a run at the championship.
SEATTLE MARINERS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+6600)
Expectations were high heading into 2022 for the Mariners; but, 2021 A.L. Cy Young winner Robbie Ray (5-6, 4.52 ERA) has yet to find his groove for the M’s. Seattle also ranks 22nd in bullpen ERA at 4.27, so it’s safe to say that their pitching hasn’t been overpowering this year. Look for Seattle’s 20+ year playoff drought to continue.
ST. LOUIS CARDINALS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+2500)
Due to a recent slide from the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cardinals have moved into first in the N.L. Central. The Red Birds are 37-28 on the year with a 1.5-game advantage in the division. Paul Goldschmidt (.347, 16 HR), Nolan Arenado (.271, 11 HR), and Nolan Gorman (.266, 3 HR) should be able to provide enough offense to get St. Louis into the playoffs. However, I don’t think they have the pitching depth to go deep into the playoffs. Even if Jack Flaherty returns to top caliber form, I don’t know that I’d back Miles Mikolas (5-4, 2.62 ERA) and Adam Wainwright (5-4, 2.84 ERA) against some of the other starting rotations in the N.L.
TAMPA BAY RAYS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+2000)
I suppose teams in the A.L. East would refer to the Rays as “pesky.” They don’t boast overpowering talent, but they’re always a tough team to compete against. Kevin Cash is a brilliant manager and always seems to put his pitchers in the best spot to succeed. That’s partially why they have the fifth-lowest bullpen ERA (3.00), despite having countless injuries to their relievers. 20/1 odds intrigues me as Tampa Bay will return Yonny Chirinos, Tyler Glasnow, Peter Fairbanks, Nick Anderson, J.P. Feyereisen, and JT Chargois at various points this year. If the Rays can acquire a serviceable bat, they’ll be dangerous come playoff time.
TEXAS RANGERS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+20000)
The Rangers aren’t necessarily ready to compete in the American League just yet. Their $500 million middle infield is in just their first of at least seven years together. Look for them to be sellers at the deadline and try to move Martin Perez (4-2, 2.18 ERA) for prospects.
TORONTO BLUE JAYS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+900)
The Blue Jays offense has come to life recently and they’re now one of the best in baseball. Entering Thursday’s action, the Jays were second in team batting average (.258) and third in OPS (.757). Barring an epic collapse from New York, Toronto will have to make a run at the championship through the Wild Card.
WASHINGTON NATIONALS 2022 WORLD SERIES ODDS (+100000)
This is a throwaway season for the Curly W’s. They’re just 23-42 on the year and are currently tied for the longest odds to win the World Series. Look for them to move Josh Bell (.290, 7 HR) and collect some prospects to play around Juan Soto (.228, 13 HR) in the future.
