8 Teams Most Likely To be Sellers at MLB Trade Deadline
It's never fun for an organization when you have to think about selling your players by the trade deadline. But unfortunately, not every team in the MLB is going to make the playoffs.
You're better off getting something rather than nothing for players that are on expiring deals. This is the time when you're able to replenish your farm system and hopefully develop talent into the next era of the franchise.
Therefore, we've put together a list of eight teams that will more than likely be sellers by the MLB trade deadline.
8. Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles aren't far away from being competitive. However, at 29-37 on the season, the Orioles just don't have what it takes to defeat any of the AL East teams. This is easily the hardest division in baseball and with all other four teams at least five games above. 500, the Orioles have no choice but to continue to build their farm system.
7. Detroit Tigers
The Detroit Tigers went out and signed plenty of new faces for this year's team. The Tigers thought they could really compete against the AL Central this season. Instead, the offense has been miserable with all of the new pieces.
However, the bullpen has been solid enough for Detroit. Many buyers are going to be calling in for some of those arms.

6. Kansas City Royals
The Royals have a great young core of hitters on their roster. Eventually, the Royals will be powerful, but for now, the Royals are 22-41 on the season and are currently 13.5 games out of the AL Central.
Therefore, the Royals will be selling any expiring contract by the deadline to continue to add to their young core.
5. Oakland Athletics
The Athletics basically sold most of their talent in the offseason but still have more to give. The Athletics are in a full rebuilding stage and will get whatever they can for the rest of their star players like Frankie Montas, for example.
At 22-44 on the season, Oakland could be the worst team in the majors when all is said and done.
4. Washington Nationals
The Nationals have been rumored to be shopping Juan Soto. While I don't think Soto will be traded, the Nationals, at 23-45, had a fire sale last year and will do another big sale this season knowing that they're already 21 games out of first place in the NL East.
3. Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates have continued to be in rebuild mode for years now. Nothing has changed. At 25-38, the Pirates aren't going anywhere this season. They're already 10.5 games out of the NL Central and will be watching the Cardinals and Brewers fight for the NL Central pennant.

2. Chicago Cubs
Just like the Pirates, the Cubs are drowning in the NL Central with a 24-40 record. The Cubs are 12 games out of the NL Central and although they sold most of their team last year, there are still some more pieces that teams will be looking for at the trade deadline.
1. Cincinnati Reds
The Reds have a lot of interesting trade chips coming into the MLB trade deadline. At 23-41, the Reds are certain sellers. They're in rebuild mode. Big-time bats like Tommy Pham and Brandon Drury are just a couple of big names that contending teams will be considering as they make a push into the playoffs.
