MLB Odds: How to Bet on the MLB
We have a full state of MLB games across the league today. There is a total of 15 games across the league today which gives sports bettors endless amounts of markets to bet on. Let’s take a look at what Sports bettors should keep their eye on today.
Friday MLB Games Preview
There are a few marquee matchups on today’s schedule. One that jumps out to me is the Yankees at home vs the Astros. We all know that there will always be bad blood between these two teams, with the Astros cheating scandal being a major reason for the early conclusion of the Yankees season back in the 2019 ALCS. Both teams have been red hot this year. It looks like it’s going to be Verlander vs Severino in this matchup. Aaron Judge and the Yankees have the best record in baseball and will look to continue that trend vs an old foe in Houston tonight at 7:05 PM Eastern.
Another matchup to watch this evening is the Dodgers travelling on the road to play the Braves. This is a rematch of last years NLCS, where the Braves upset the Dodgers on their way to a World Series appearance where they would go on to defeat the Astros in 6 games. These are two of the top teams in baseball and know each other very well. The pitching matchup is projected to be Urias vs Anderson.
There seems to be an infinite number of things to bet on in the MLB nowadays. Let’s take a look at some of the most common betting lines and their most recent odds for Friday’s games.
Moneyline and Over/Under
The most common way to bet on MLB games is to bet on a team to win straight up. The next most common way is to bet on the total runs for the game to go over or under the certain number Vegas puts out. Here are the moneylines and over/unders for today’s games.
New York Mets (-140) @ Miami Marlins. O/U 7.
Houston Astros @ New York Yankees (-130). O/U 7.5.
Boston Red Sox (-120) @ Cleveland Guardians. O/U 9.
Pittsburgh Pirates @ Tampa Bay Rays (-200). O/U 7.5.
Los Angeles Dodgers (-130) @ Atlanta Braves. O/U 9.
Washington Nationals @ Texas Rangers (-155). O/U 9.

Detroit Tigers @ Arizona Diamondbacks (-166). O/U 8.5.
Philadelphia Phillies (-124) @ San Diego Padres. O/U 7.
Cincinnati Reds @ San Francisco Giants (-200). O/U 8.
Run Line
This is the same as betting on a spread in other sports. Sometimes when a team is a heavy favorite in baseball and you are confident in them to win by multiple runs, it makes more sense to bet them -1.5 at better odds. Here are the odds for the run lines in all of today’s 15 games.
New York Mets (-1.5, +200) @ Miami Marlins
Houston Astros @ New York Yankees (-1.5, +170)
Boston Red Sox (-1.5, +143) @ Cleveland Guardians
Pittsburgh Pirates @ Tampa Bay Rays (-1.5, +107)
Los Angeles Dodgers (-1.5, +120) @ Atlanta Braves
Washington Nationals @ Texas Rangers (-1.5, +132)
Baltimore Orioles @ Chicago White Sox (-1.5, +123)
Colorado Rockies @ Minnesota Twins (-1.5, +125)
Oakland Athletics @ Kansas City Royals (-1.5, +148)
Toronto Blue Jays (-1.5, +120) @ Milwaukee Brewers
Chicago Cubs @ St. Louis Cardinals (-1.5, +125)
Seattle Mariners @ Los Angeles Angels (-1.5, +130)
Detroit Tigers @ Arizona Diamondbacks (-1.5, +125)
Philadelphia Phillies (-1.5, +155) @ San Diego Padres
Cincinnati Reds @ San Francisco Giants (-1.5, +110)
Player to Hit a Home Run
Another popular betting market in the MLB today is to bet on a player to hit a home run. For example, if you want to bet on one of the current home-run leaders to hit a long one today than you can Aaron Judge (+205) or Mike Trout (+180) and hopefully they can continue their hot streaks!
Total Bases
This is another prop bet that you can take for today’s hottest hitters. If you are confident in a hitter to get on base multiple times today, take their over 1.5, or 0.5 bases. Getting over 1.5 bases consists of that player hitting 2 singles, or just one double, triple, or home run. For example, if you trust the current batting average leader, Luis Arraez, to have a multi-hit game, take his over on bases!
Colorado Rockies @ Minnesota Twins
Colorado sports bettors have the opportunity of a life time with this Sports Illustrated Sportsbook promo code. New Users will have the opportunity to bet $1, and get $500 on any +1000 odds bet!
