MLB MVP Odds: Shohei Ohtani Leads The Way

Aaron Judge is having a historic offensive season. He my top 60 home runs, steal 20 bases and drive in close to 120 runs so far this season but sportsbooks no longer think that pace is going to be enough to compete with reigning MVP Shohei Ohtani.

MLB MVP Odds

After an outstanding performance last night, Ohtani is now given +110 odds, or an implied 47.6% chance to win AL MVP. That once again makes him the favorite, surpassing Judge. Of course, Judge is still in the race at +170, or an implied 37% chance to win. However, that’s a drop for Judge who was once as low as EVEN or an implied 50% chance.

It’s not just the books moving, bettors are firmly behind Ohtani to be MLB MVP. The Angels star has seen 38% of bets over the last 10 days. Meanwhile, Judge, who’s second on the market, has seen just 10% of bets placed on him.

It’s next to impossible to be more valuable than Ohtani for MLB MVP odds. He has a chance to win the AL Cy Young, and he’s also on pace to hit close to 40 HRs and drive in 100. It would take a record-breaking season just to be in the conversation, and to his credit, that’s what Aaron Judge is doing. Still, how can anyone compete with a guy who’s an all-star at not one, but two positions? Neither sportsbooks nor bettors really believe they can.
