Pete Alonso Home Run Derby Odds Breakdown

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Pete Alonso is the favorite to take home the crown for the third straight year. The Pete Alonso Home Run Derby odds have him at +200 currently. As a reminder, the last time he was in the Home Run Derby, this is what he did:

74 home runs is no joke man, including a massive 35 homers in the first round. That's incredible. Plus Dave Jauss the secret weapon is making a return to throw to Pete once again at the Derby tonight.

On the regular season, Alonso has 24 homers to his name and is on pace for 42 on the year. When you look at his advanced numbers he projects to do very well in this event again. Alonso's barrel percentage is 89th percentile, with his max exit velocity at 98th percentile and HardHit% at 81st percentile. Translation, he hits the ball very hard and very fall.

Of the remaining contestants tonight, Kyle Schwarber is likely his biggest test. Schwarber has 29 homers which is the most in the National League. He's built to hit homers and has the experience that some of the other participants are lacking.

Expect these two to put on a show tonight but don't be surprised if we see a three-Pete.
