2022 MLB Trade Deadline Predictions: Predicting 15 Players That Will Be Dealt Ahead of Deadline

The MLB Trade Deadline is on August 2. We're literally just a week away from absolute chaos. Many teams will be making deals to better position themselves for the future.

Even though 15 players traded at the deadline seems like a lot, we'll likely be closer to 30 players dealt on that day alone.

Here are 15 players that will more than likely be traded ahead of the August 2 deadline.

15 Players That Will Be Dealt Ahead of MLB Trade Deadline

MLB Hitters With a High Likelihood of Being Dealt Ahead of MLB Trade Deadline

1. Willson Contreras, C, Cubs

2. Andrew Benintendi, OF, Royals

3. Josh Bell, 1B/DH, Nationals

4. Trey Mancini, 1B/OF, Orioles

5. Brandon Drury, 1B/3B/OF, Reds

These five players have been coming up in rumors in the last couple of weeks. We just saw Willson Contreras crying on teammate Ian Happ's shoulder after what will likely be his final game in a Cubs uniform at Wrigley Field.

Meanwhile, Andrew Benintendi isn't vaccinated but reports acknowledge that teams are still willing to trade for him. He's having a terrific year and will be dealt to a team that is okay with his vaccination status. An American East team is more unlikely but not out of the picture just yet. He won't be able to play games in Toronto.

Josh Bell is on the league's worst team, putting up insane numbers.

Meanwhile, Trey Mancini also acknowledged that he expects to be traded off Baltimore. He's making the most money on the current roster and the Orioles are willing to let him go for prospects.

Lastly, Brandon Drury might be having a fluke year. Or he might not be. But his power won't go unnoticed by teams looking for an extra utility bat.

MLB Pitchers With High Likelihood of Being Dealt Ahead of MLB Trade Deadline

6. Luis Castillo, SP, Reds

7. Frankie Montas, SP, Athletics

8. Martin Perez, SP, Rangers

9. David Robertson, RP, Cubs

10. Andrew Chafin, RP, Tigers

Many teams are in the market for another starting pitcher or some relief help. Luis Castillo has been terrific on the mound, earning a ton of strikeouts as of late. He's going to be leaving for the best package that the Reds can get. Frankie Montas should also get ready to pack his bags. Whoever can't get Castillo will be in on Montas.

If a team can't get either of those two, Martin Perez is a downgrade but has been the best pitcher in Texas this season. Lastly, every team needs a dependable bullpen arm. David Robertson and Andrew Chafin bring that to the table and will surely be dealt to a contending team.

Other MLB Players That Will Likely be Dealt Ahead of MLB Trade Deadline

11. Ian Happ, OF, Cubs

12. Dominic Smith, 1B, Mets

13. Nelson Cruz, DH, Nationals

14. Mychal Givens, RP, Cubs

15. Jorge Lopez, RP, Orioles

Ian Happ will also be traded from the Cubs. They're in rebuild mode and will be getting rid of any of their assets to help build for the future. Dominic Smith hasn't produced this season but many teams feel like a change of scenery could be what he's missing. Teams will want him from the Mets. Then there's Nelson Cruz, who has struggled and is old. But he can still be a solid power bat off the bench or as a designated hitter. Being in a better lineup could help his case. Lastly, Mychal Givens and Jorge Lopez would be other relievers that teams are looking at. Lopez has been terrific this season and some are not sure if the Orioles are ready to part with their closer. But I think they know that they're not going anywhere this year. They'll keep building for the future and trade Lopez.
