Things just got a little more complicated for the San Diego Padres. They just had an epic trade deadline as they landed Juan Soto, Josh Bell, and more to try to help their playoff push for 2022.

Unfortunately, if they do make the playoffs, they will have to do it without one of their biggest stars. Fernando Tatis Jr. has been suspended for 80 games for performing enhancing drugs.

Tatis is claiming ignorance, saying he took clostebol to treat ringworm. Even still, this is just a few months after missing significant time due to an injury suffered from a motorcycle accident. The mega contract for Fernando Tatis Jr. is not looking so hot right now.

It's been a crazy couple of weeks for the San Diego Padres. Their odds went from +2000 before the trade, up to +1100 after the Juan Soto trade, and then back down to +2000 after this suspension news.

Fernando Tatis Jr. will be unavailable for the playoffs and his suspension will carry over into 2023 as well. Tatis Jr has yet to take an at bat this year due to a previous injury so his 23-year-old season will be all but a waste.

When on the field, there is no denying Tatis' talent. He has a career .965 OPS in 273 games over three seasons. Heck, he hit 42 home runs last year in just 130 games, the guy is a stud.

Losing a guy like this for down the stretch and a potential World Series run is huge. Yes, they've been a good team without him but let's be real here Fernando Tatis Jr. takes this lineup and team to a completely different level.
