MLB Top 100 Prospects: Ranking Baseball's Top Prospects in August
The MLB Top 100 Prospects list is always changing. Some players became rookies this year while other players were just drafted this season. The ones that started the season early this season are no longer prospects. However, teams added plenty of prospects with the MLB Draft that concluded a month ago. In this article, we'll name our top 100 prospects in the MLB in mid-August. You will see some of these names in the MLB next year as rookies.
Top 100 Prospects in the MLB
1. Francisco Alvarez, C, Mets
Nothing has changed. I've still got Fransisco Alvarez as the number one prospect in the MLB. It took him a little bit of time to adapt to AAA pitching from AA, but eventually, he got the swing of things. Literally.
2. Corbin Carroll, OF, Diamondbacks
Carroll has all the tools to be one of the best players in the MLB. He's just an all-around athlete. He's a great hitter and has tons of speed. If Carroll can get on at a high rate, he's going to be a nightmare for opposing pitchers. It's still possible that Carroll makes his debut this season. General Manager Mike Hazen has insisted that a promotion is coming. I can't wait to watch him in the Majors.
3. Grayson Rodriguez, RHP, Orioles
Rodriguez, to me, is the best prospect in the Orioles farm system. Some would argue it's Gunnar Henderson. All that really matters is that the Orioles have two elite prospects at the top of the MLB prospect list. Anyway, Rodriguez has a plus fastball, a wicked change, and a slider that's going to fool most batters. He's 6-5 and just continues to overwhelm the opposition.
4. Gunnar Henderson, INF, Orioles
Henderson has plenty of power and a great arm to throw across the diamond as a third baseman or a shortstop. We'll likely see him in the MLB along with Rodriguez. The Orioles are really going to be something in the next couple of years. Henderson will be a huge part of it.
5. Gabriel Moreno, C, Toronto Blue Jays
Moreno has great plate discipline at the plate and should be a solid catcher behind the plate. The Blue Jays have an All-Star at the position currently with Alejandro Kirk, so it'll be interesting to see how the Blue Jays go about calling him up for a second stint in the majors.
6. Anthony Volpe, SS, Yankees
7. Brett Baty, 3B, Mets
Baty was just called up to the MLB and hit a home run on his first swing. He already has two games with multiple RBIs and has looked solid at third base for what it's worth. Baty looks mature and could end up sticking it out in the Majors if he continues to play well.
8. Jordan Walker, 3B, Cardinals
9. Marco Luciano, SS, Giants
10. Marcelo Mayer, SS, Red Sox
We won't see Mayer until at least 2024, but he's also an all-around player that can basically do everything above-average. Maybe he doesn't have wicked speed, but everything else is a plus for this kid.
11. Henry Davis, C, Pirates
12. Triston Casas, 1B, Red Sox

22. Elly De La Cruz, INF, Reds
23. Taj Bradley, RHP, Rays
24. Zac Veen, OF, Rockies
25. Robert Hassell III, OF, Nationals
Hassell was just traded from the Padres to the Nationals in a package for Juan Soto. Hassell III has big shoes to fill, but he won't be thinking about that. He's an electric ball player who could pay dividends for the Nationals by 2024.
26. Jackson Jobe, RHP, Tigers
27. Max Meyer, RHP, Marlins
Meyer will be sidelined for a little bit after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He's going to fall down the rankings until he can get healthy again.
28. Kyle Harrison, LHP, Giants
29. Brennen Davis, OF Cubs
30. Josh Jung, 3B, Rangers
31. Bobby Miller, RHP, Dodgers
32. Nick Gonzales, 2B, Pirates
33. Tyler Soderstorm, 1B, Athletics
34. Shea Langeliers, C, Athletics
Langeliers has been called up by the Athletics and is getting regular playing time. He's not going to turn Oakland's team around but will help this team get better over time.
35. Andrew Painter, RHP, Phillies
36. George Valera, OF, Guardians
