NBA Odds: Rockets Gaining On Lakers As Most-Bet On Team Ahead Of Restart

NBA fever has taken hold ahead of the league's resumption this week. By looking at the betting data on Oddschecker we can exclusively reveal that the Houston Rockets are gaining in popularity ahead of Thursday.
When we last checked our data just six days ago, it was the 76ers who'd taken the largest share of bets in the previous 7 days, taking 18% of all bets to win the championship. That was just ahead of the favorites, the LA Lakers, who had 16% of bets and the Raptors who were third with 10% of bets.

With the league only days away from returning we've discovered that bettors are continuing to lump on the Lakers, with 20% of bets over the past 24 hours having been placed on LeBron winning another ring. The Lakers are still favorites, and available at +270, ahead of nearest rivals the Bucks (+280) and Clippers (+340).
What is more interesting for bettors however is that the Houston Rockets have accounted for 15% of bets, a huge jump given that they were under 4% this time a week ago. That indicates that bettors have confidence that their small ball style will cause serious problems for some of the biggest teams in the league. They're fourth favorites, someway behind the top three and at a best price of +1600 they could offer huge value in Orlando.
The Sixers (+2700), who had taken 18% of bets a week ago, have only taken 10% of bets in the past 24 hours, which keeps them tied with the Bucks, and marginally behind the Boston Celtics (+2000), who are another riser, now making up for 13% of all bets.
As the season gets ever closer we have seen both the Rockets and Celtics trending upward, with the Raptors and 76ers now seemingly less popular with bettors, with both also having slightly longer odds than 6 days ago.
