NBA Finals Odds: Miami Heat Injuries Increase Chances Of Lakers Whitewash To 43%
Injuries to Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo in Game 1 have left both stars as doubtful on the injury report, to take part in the second installment of the series, tonight.
Game 1 was a bloodbath, with multiple injuries for the Miami Heat, with Jimmy Butler also spaining his ankle, although he later returned to the court. It's unlikely we'll see Dragic or Adebayo tonight, and with Butler unlikely to be at 100%, it's not surpise that the Heat odds have slipped. The Lakers are -455 on the moneyline, with Miami at +425.
Game 1 saw the Heat fall to an 18-point defeat. Game 2 starts with the Lakers as 9.5 point favorites, a rise of 5 points over the 4.5 spread we saw before Game 1.
More worringly for Heat fans is that their odds of a 4-0 series defeat have shortened dramatically, moving from +400 to just +130. That implies that there is a 43% chance that they get whitewashed by LeBron's Lakers, rising from just 20% before the series.
It was also going to be a hard ask to win this NBA Finals but now it seems like an almost impossible task for a Heat team besieged by injuries. The Lakers have moved to being -1667 to win the NBA Championship, with the Heat considered outsider, now at 14/1.
