Since his buyout from the Detroit Pistons went public, many speculated that Blake Griffin would join Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden in Brooklyn to form the NBA’s next great super team. Well, on Monday the team made it official as they announced Griffin as the newest member of the Brooklyn Nets.

Going into the All-Star break, Brooklyn trailed the Philadelphia 76ers by a half game for first place in the East. Now, with a starting lineup that boasts five former and current NBA All-Stars, it seems like just a matters of time until they overtake the Sixers for the top spot.

But what about their title hopes? Can DeAndre Jordan, Griffin and Harden earn their first ever NBA title while playing in the Big Apple? Well, the Nets are now the second favorite to win it all and over half of the NBA Championship bets in the last 24 hours have backed them.

Brooklyn Nets NBA Championship Betting

Following Sunday’s NBA All-Star game and Monday’s official announcement of the Blake Griffin signing, we saw a massive influx in NBA Championship bets. More specifically, there was a mad rush to get bets in on Brooklyn to win it all.

In the past 24 hours, a whopping 60% of all NBA Championship bets have come in on Brooklyn, more than three times as many as we’ve seen come in on the Lakers. The Jazz, who have the best record in the NBA, limped into the All-Star break, losing two straight. This has brought some scepticism to bettors, as just 5% of NBA Championship bets in the last 24 hours been on Utah.

Brooklyn Nets NBA Championship Odds

The Nets were, predictably, already an extremely popular pick to win the NBA Championship this season. After all, there isn’t a backcourt in the league that can compete with James Harden, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

However, now that Blake Griffin has reunited with fellow Lob City teammate DeAndre Jordan in the frontcourt, it seems as though bettors are ready to hand them the title. On Tuesday, just one day after the Blake Griffin signing was made official, the Nets’ best odds to win an NBA Championship in 2021 sit at +300. Those best odds are the second shortest in the NBA, behind the Lakers’ +285, but places like BetMGM and Borgata have LA and Brooklyn with the same odds. And, somewhat surprisingly, the Nets are actually the favorite ahead of LA at PointsBet.

At +300, the Nets’ best odds imply a 25% chance they win their first NBA Championship in franchise history.
