Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz Odds: Jazz Have 86.2% Chance to Advance Past Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies gave the Golden State Warriors all they had during Friday night’s NBA Play-In Tournament finale. They ended up coming out victorious in overtime, one of the franchises biggest wins in years. Their reward? A date with the top-seeded Utah Jazz.

Utah Jazz vs. Memphis Grizzlies odds are now widely available and the verdict is not one that is all too surprising. According to Jazz vs. Grizzlies odds, this series won’t be very close. As a matter of fact, it’s the second biggest discrepancy in odds out of all the NBA Playoffs first round matchups. The only series more lopsided is the No. 1 Sixers vs. the No. 8 Wizards in the East.

What does that mean? Nothing really. Other than the fact that everyone will be expecting the Grizzlies to lose, as you can see from Grizzlies vs. Jazz odds. But, that clearly doesn’t matter to the players as it was the case against Golden State and all they did was come out and top Steph Curry and the Warriors in overtime on Friday.

So, it’s time to breakdown the series odds and see where the value is when it comes to Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz odds out West.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz Odds – Game 1 Odds

I made a statement that Dillon Brooks and Jonas Valanciunas, not Ja Morant, were the most important players on the court for the Grizzlies at all times. Then, in the biggest game of the season, Brooks shot 7-22 and the pair combined for 23 points. What did Morant do? His best Greg Jennings impression as he put the entire team on his back with 35 points on just under 50% shooting.

Even that showing wasn’t enough to make oddsmakers think about improving the Grizzlies vs. Jazz odds for Memphis.

It makes sense. There is a reason why the Jazz are the West’s top seed. Donovan Mitchell is the real deal, Rudy Gobert and Joe Ingles are the perfect role players to surround him with and the team just fits together perfectly. They don’t have the star power that some of the other top teams in the NBA trot out. But, all they is win.

So, how does Game 1 look according to oddsmakers? Not great for Morant and the Grizz. The 9-point spread in favor of the Jazz is the biggest of the weekend and the Jazz are -375 on the moneyline, implying a 78.9% chance they win. The Grizzlies are a whopping +350 to win Game 1.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz Odds – Series Odds

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz odds don’t get any more optimistic for Memphis if we look at the series instead of Game 1. Like I said earlier, the series has the second most lopsided odds in the NBA Playoffs first round, just behind Sixers vs. Wizards.

As of Saturday, the Jazz are -625 to win the series against the Grizzlies. At -625, the Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz odds give Utah an 86.2% chance of winning the series. Meanwhile, at +700, there is just a 12.5% implied probability that the No. 8 see upsets the No, 1 seed in the West.
