Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers Odds: 88.9% Chance Sixers Take Down Wizards

You could make an argument that home-court advantage throughout the NBA playoffs was more important to the 76ers than any other team in the league, and getting it shows in the Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers odds.

The Sixers are world beaters at home. Evidence of that can be found in their 29-7 home record. But, they’re also average on the road with a 20-16 mark away from home. So, as they have home court against the Wizards, it makes sense that they are the biggest favorite in the NBA, according to Round 1 series winner odds.

It’s a tough break for the Wizards, who have been playing much better of late. But, it was either the 76ers or Nets as a first-round opponent, and I’m not 100% sure they didn’t get the more favorable draw by facing the first seed in the East.

But not only are Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers odds available for the series, but they’re also open for Game 1. So, let’s take a look at both.

Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers Odds – Game 1 Odds

Oddly enough, despite having the most lopsided series odds, the Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers odds for Game 1 of the series is not the biggest point spread. Instead, that belongs to the Utah Jazz vs. Memphis Grizzlies.

I touched on this in my Game 1 picks, but this is not a good matchup for Washington. They will steal a few games based on just star power alone, their backcourt is the best in the NBA. But the 76ers have two elite wing defenders that make it extremely tough to get baskets, in Matisse Thybulle and Ben Simmons. If Beal or Westbrook start to get buckets in bunches, Doc Rivers will go to Thybulle and he will make life miserable for either All-Star guard.

As for down low, no one in the entire NBA can guard Joel Embiid, and that stands true with the Wizards with Daniel Gafford and Alex Len. All this is to say that these one-sided Game 1 odds make a lot of sense.

The 76ers are 7.5 point favorites on the point spread. As for the moneyline, Philly is -305 to win outright, odds that imply a 75.3% chance they go up 1-0 in the series. The Wizards sit at +270 to get the win at the Wells Fargo Center, implying a 27% chance.

Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers Odds – Series Odds

The Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers series odds is even more lopsided as oddsmkaers pick the 76ers to advance to the second round. Right now, the Sixers are -800, according to the latest Wizards vs. 76ers odds, which gives them an 88.9% implied probability.

The Wizards have a shot to defeat the 76ers. Philly is still a team led by youth, despite the sedition of veteran shooters, and they’ve never made a deep playoffs run. Russell Westbrook give the Wizards the experience advantage there. But, their odds aren’t looking good. As of Saturday, the Wizards sit at +650, implying they have a 13.3% chance of pulling off the No. 8 over No. 1 upset.
