Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics Odds For Game 4

I said that in order for the Celtics to win a game in this series they would need a 50-60 point performance from Jayson Tatum. And, just like clockwork, they got that 50-point showing from Tatum in Game 3 and it lifted them to their first win of the series. Is that sustainable? Probably not. But, don’t underestimate the impact a win in the series can have on a team’s confidence. Here is a look at Game 4 in the Nets vs. Celtics series.

Brooklyn Nets Preview

The bad news for Brooklyn is that they lost Game 3 to the Celtics. The good news is it took an absolutely herculean effort from Jayson Tatum to pull off the win. James Harden was awesome in Game 3, scoring 41 points. Kevin Durant was his usual self, putting up 39. But, outside of those two performances, there wasn’t much shown from Brooklyn.

Blake Griffin has to be better than four points on 1-5 shooting and Kyrie Irving cannot go 6-17 from the field. Those two players are all-star caliber and need to show up when their name is called. The other question I have about the Nets, and this goes beyond this series, is their depth. Only four bench players saw time in Game 3 and none score more than five points. I’m not sure how much longer they can survive doing that.

Boston Celtics Preview

Jayson Tatum put the team on his back and carried them to victory. It’s a lot to ask from a player to give you 50 night in and night out, but I honestly think we’re going to need to see close to that in order for the Celtics to make noise in this series.

With Jaylen Brown in the lineup it would be a bit more feasible, but I’m not sure you can rely on 19-point showings from Tristan Thompson while Marcus Smart shoots 5-8 from beyond the arc. It’s encouraging to win a game where Kemba Walker plays so poor, but the Nets are really just too much to handle.
