Philadelphia 76ers vs. Atlanta Hawks Odds For Game 6

After Game 4, it felt like things couldn’t get worse for the 76ers as they squandered a 17-point second-half lead to lose and tied the series, 2-2. That was before they one-upped themselves in Game 5, blowing a 82-58 lead with just over three minutes left in the 3rd, falling behind 3-2 in the series.

Philadelphia 76ers Preview

The frustrating part about this series for Philadelphia 76ers fans is they should have probably already closed it out. They blew massive leads in the past two games and turned what should have been a 5-game series into a likely loss and elimination from the NBA Playoffs.

This really all starts and ends with one man, Ben Simmons. Since he’s come into the league, Simmons has gotten better and improved at precisely nothing. Forget his inability to shoot, his lack of a low-post repertoire and complete ineptitude at the free-throw line are far worse.

Simmons went a whopping 4-14 from the line in Game 5. It got so bad that Doc Rivers had to pull him from the game. On the offensive sets where he stayed in the game, he would give the ball off and go stand in the corner. He’s not part of the offense unless it’s in transition.

Joel Embiid, no matter how hard he tries, can’t win an NBA title by himself. Seeing the 76ers as favorites in Game 6 is shocking, especially on the road.

Atlanta Hawks Preview

The good news for Atlanta is they are winning the series, will most likely advance to the Eastern Conference Finals and are a way more complete team than anyone gave them credit for. But, the fact remains that they’ve been outplayed for most of this series. It doesn’t really matter, but it makes betting on them a scary proposition.

Trae Young needs to be applauded. He hasn’t had the most efficient series, but he’s done whatever has been asked of him, whether it be scoring or distributing. And, the good news for him is it doesn’t matter that he’s a negative defender, because Ben Simmons makes the Sixers play with four men every time they have the ball.
