NBA Rumors: Five Teams That Should be Sellers at the Trade Deadline
The February 10th trade deadline is in the right part of the season where teams can easily gauge where they will be in the playoffs, pending any major moves. This helps teams who are underperforming and have struggled getting over the hump in recent years. For some teams, it’s time to sell and reevaluate. So, let’s look at five teams that should be sellers at the coming trade deadline.
1. Portland Trailblazers
The Trailblazers have been a team that’s struggling to get over the hump. They’ve built decent rosters around Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, but it hasn’t been enough to make any real noise to win a championship. It seems that the Dame and CJ era could be closing soon, as the two aren't producing together as much as they used to. The Trailblazers need to sell and take a step back to reevaluate what they could do to get to contention.
2. Sacramento Kings
Playoff droughts can be hard to get out of for any team, but the Sacramento Kings have had a hard time re-entering the postseason. They’ve got a roster full of guys that could help a team make the playoffs, and young stars, but not a team that is yet ready to make a postseason run. The Kings need to sell the guys who can help other playoff teams in return for some assets to build around De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton. Value for the rotational players will be a bit higher at the deadline because teams will be willing to spend some assets to benefit their playoff run.
3. Indiana Pacers
Time is up for the Indiana Pacers. After too many years of finishing in the middle of the pack, they’re ready to blow it up. And they should be. Their currently built roster isn’t enough to get anything done, and it doesn’t seem like it will be. The Pacers awareness of this and readiness to enter the next era has been interesting. They have players that will hold good value at the deadline, so they need to work on building up assets.

4. Los Angeles Clippers
This is a weird situation because injuries are the only reason the Clippers are here. But they are here, so they should have a small sell at the deadline, maximizing value for rotational players to put themselves in a position to contend next season. If they sell correctly, we can all expect the Clippers to be in the title contention next season.
5. Orlando Magic
Being dead last in the league and having role players that will have decent value at the trade deadline is a good situation for the Magic to be in…kind of. While they’d like to win as many games as possible, they aren’t in a situation to do that, and their best option is to sell what value they have with their veterans and let the young guys develop for the rest of the season while also getting good odds for a top pick in the draft. The Magic are in a good position for their rebuild and selling their veterans at the deadline could bulk up the assets they have.
