NBA All-Star Weekend: 3-Point Contest Odds & Picks

All-Star weekend has officially arrived in the NBA, as the festivities are slated to get started tomorrow in Cleveland, OH. Before the game officially goes off on Sunday, the 3-Point Contest and the Slam Dunk Contest are two fan favorites that always draw the attention of the sports world.

Let’s take a look at the 3-Point Contest from a sports betting perspective and see where we can derive some value.

Fred VanVleet (+500) (Bet $100 to win $500)

VanVleet has been doing just about everything for the Raptors this season and was rewarded with his first-ever All-Star appearance; rightfully so. Entering the break with a 40.1% clip from deep, and has shown no hesitation to keep on firing.

Averaging 10.1 3-point attempts per game, VanVleet has also put up 867 FG attempts on the season, amongst the most in the league, and seemingly never runs out of gas. As for his production heading into this contest, he has especially been on fire as of late. Over his last five games, VanVleet is averaging nearly 49% from deep per game, with none less than 42%.

In a contest he will no doubt be a fan favorite, I like for VanVleet to have himself a night in this contest.

Desmond Bane (+600) (Bet $100 to win $600)

One of the dark horses for this event, Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane is quietly putting up some monster numbers in his second season in the league. Currently shooting 42% from deep, Bane is averaging just shy of seven three-point attempts per game.

Entering Saturday, Bane is on one of the best streaks of his season. In three of his last four, Bane has racked up a 3PT % of 58% or more, with no less than three made per game.
