NBA Draft Odds: Line Movement for 1st Overall Pick

Jabari Smith Jr., of Auburn, went from -105 to -550 before odds were pulled off the board last night. Meanwhile, Paolo Banchero, of Duke, went from +350 at open to +200 at closing. His odds were a bit wacky but ultimately more tickets and money came on him late yesterday. Lastly, Chet Holmgren, who is expected to be drafted second, from Gonzaga, went from +145 to +1000 before the board was locked.

NBA Draft Odds: Highest Ticket Percentage for First Overall Pick

Jabari Smith Jr. had 34.3% of the tickets to go first overall. Banchero had 22.8% of the tickets while Holmgren had 20.5% of the tickets. At this point, it seems pretty clear that Smith Jr. will go first overall to the Magic with Holmgren going second to the Thunder, and Banchero going to Houston at third overall. Between Banchero and Holmgren, there are more tickets on those two players than Smith, who analysts are 99% sure will be going first overall.

NBA Draft Odds: Highest Handle Percentage for First Overall Pick

Despite a ton of tickets on Banchero and Holmgren, Smith Jr. has 70.7% of the handle at Bet MGM. That means over 70% of the money being wagered between Smith, Holmgren, and Banchero is on Smith to go first overall. The public is sitting pretty here.

NBA Draft Odds: Biggest Liabilities for BetMGM

Of course, if Smith Jr. goes first overall, BetMGM won't be happy knowing that the most money for the first overall pick is on Smith Jr. If Chet Holmgren was to go first overall instead, BetMGM would be cheering and bring in plenty of cash. But that upset doesn't seem likely. The public looks like they're going to sneak away with some profits over BetMGM with Smith Jr most likely going first overall.
