Ranking the Top NBA Trade Rumors Based on How Likely They Are to Occur
1. DeJounte Murray
The San Antonio Spurs are shopping DeJounte Murray. At this point, it seems likely that the Spurs will deal Murray to another team. Currently, the asking price is apparently four first-round picks.
It's a bit high. But Murray is only 25 years old and could be a walking triple-double in the right system. The Spurs already added a 2022 first-round pick for Derrick White and then drafted Blake Wesley, who has some comparisons to Murray, to begin with.
The Spurs are going to completely rebuild and will have a ton of picks to find talent. Usually, the Spurs do well in that department.
Murray is likely going to wind up in Atlanta but it seems like the New York Knicks are involved in trade talks too.
2. John Collins
If the Spurs were to trade with the Hawks, John Collins would likely be a part of the deal. That's why Collins gets the second spot in the rankings. The Hawks want to get Young more backcourt help via Murray and ship Collins to the Spurs as the Spurs start to rebuild with young talent.
Collins could be "the guy" in San Antonio while the other players start to develop.
3. Malcolm Brogdon & Myles Turner
The Pacers have a very high asking price on Malcolm Brogdon. But the team that doesn't trade for Murray might move on looking to add Brogdon. That could be the Knicks or a contending team that has trade chips and room for Brogdon. He's going to get traded along with his current teammate Myles Turner.
4. Rudy Gobert
The Jazz is still shopping Rudy Gobert. I still think it's more likely that Gobert gets traded ahead of Donovan Mitchell at this point.
It's been reported that the Jazz is still engaging in trade talk for Gobert. Gobert is a defensive wizard and a massive piece for so many teams. But the Jazz still won't give up Gobert for pennies. They want a massive return that would entice Mitchell to want to stay in Utah.
5. Russell Westbrook
No other team wants Westbrook. He's staying put and will need to figure it out in Los Angeles with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. I still think Westbrook has something left in the tank.
6. Kyrie Irving
And no. The Nets and Lakers won't swap Westbrook for Irving. Kyrie is staying put as well. Let's see what the Nets are capable of with Ben Simmons, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving. I'm intrigued by that trio.
