Warriors NBA Trade Rumors: 5 Trade Options for the Golden State Warriors in 2022

The Golden State Warriors just won an NBA Championship, and if they want to improve their chances to repeat, it’ll have to be done through trades, because as we all know, they don’t have cap space. Let’s analyze their best options through trades, unrealistic and realistic both.

Warriors NBA Trade Rumors

5. Rudy Gobert

Gobert gives us a more unlikely start, but it seems as if Gobert is available, as the Utah Jazz have consistently failed to get over the hump in the playoffs, no matter how good they’ve been in any regular season. That may lead to their core being blown up, and Gobert may be expendable for the Jazz. It would cost for the Warriors, obviously, and they’d have to be okay with parting from Andrew Wiggins, and potentially James Wiseman, who would’ve had a similar role to Gobert. There’s a world where the Warriors could make it happen, it’s a matter of whether they want to or not.

4. Myles Turner

A trade for Turner would be similar to a trade for Gobert, as they’d have to make the salaries work and incentivize with young assets like a Wisemen-like player. Turner would be a solid lob threat, a great rim protector, all while maintaining – or even improving – the floor spacing for the Warriors. It’s a trade that would honestly leave the Warriors as favorites to repeat a title season next season. Again, it’s a matter of how much they value Wiggins, who had a very, very impressive NBA Playoffs, and even Finals at that. It’d be a great fit if they decide to pull the trigger to make that trade work.

3. Mike Muscala

Muscala would be a much cheaper option compared to the first two, but it’d have to be a very incentivizing trade to the Thunder, who really like Muscala. They’re fans of what he can offer as a veteran on and off the court. He’s really helped their culture, but he’d be a perfect pick-and-pop fit for the Warriors and a match made in Heaven. A cheap floor spacer would be a perfect trade this offseason for the Warriors, but because of his position in OKC, he’d probably be more expensive than they’d like.

2. Kenrich Williams

Williams is in a similar position to Muscala, as they both like being in OKC with the Thunder, and the Thunder enjoy having them with the team both on and off the court. What makes this trade slightly more likely is that the Thunder have 20 players heading into next season, and will have to cut down. Now they could either waive the players they don’t want outright before next season or trade some for more draft capital, which we know Presti is a fan of. Again, it’ll cost the Warriors quite a bit, but it may be worth it for another championship.

1. Jakob Poetl

The Spurs aren’t shy about their upcoming rebuild, and they’re ready to strip the team down to tank for the next NBA Draft, which has one of the best draft prospects we’ve seen in a while in Victor Wembanyana. So, it’s time for the Spurs to get younger, and the Warriors can help that by giving up Wiseman in return for Poetl, who will help the Warriors prepare to repeat their championship season. Poetl could provide a versatile big body to help on both sides of the floor for the Warriors, and that might be valuable to the Warriors core of Curry-Klay-Dray as they get older and the championship window is tighter.
