Kevin Durant Next Team Odds: Suns Heavily Favored Ahead of 76ers, Heat, Bulls
Hours before NBA free agency opened up, Kevin Durant asked for a trade from the Brooklyn Nets.
This was a bit shocking after Kyrie Irving announced that he would opt into his player option with the Nets and give it one more year with Durant and Ben Simmons to go win a title.
Now that dream is washed. Durant (and Irving) will be requesting trades to play for new teams next season. Reporters have suggested that Durant would love to play for the Phoenix Suns or the Miami Heat.
Of course, he does. Both of those teams were first in their respective conferences during the regular season. It's the same story with Durant, in comparison to the time he left the Thunder for the Warriors.
With that said, where will Kevin Durant end up?

The Nets are going to bring back a historic package for Kevin Durant. Currently, the Nets are said to be wanting two all-star players in return for Durant. There aren't many teams that can do this.
The Lakers have Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. But outside of that, the assets for the Lakers are minimal.
The Heat could get rid of Tyler Herro in a deal. He has the potential to be an All-Star, but the Nets wouldn't be able to trade for Bam Adebayo. Therefore, that seems difficult.
The Suns, on the other hand, could sign and trade DeAndre Ayton. But it seems like the Nets aren't really thrilled with Ayton and don't see him as a centerpiece in any deal.
Meanwhile, you have the 76ers who are invested in going after Durant. They've got some young players but that could create some turmoil with Ben Simmons, who is the star that will likely stay put in Brooklyn.
But a package centered around Tyrese Maxey is probably your best bet when it comes down to talent and potential.
When you look at all the options, if the Nets really want legitimate talent in return, the Chicago Bulls are an interesting trade partner. The Bulls have DeMar DeRozan and can give up players like Coby White, Patrick Williams and Ayo Dosunmu along with draft picks in a deal for Durant. Maybe Lonzo Ball and Nikola Vucevic would be a part of a deal instead. But the Bulls have assets to get Durant. Durant might not want to play there, but the Nets would get a solid return from Chicago. Then Durant gets to play with Zach LaVine, who just signed an extension with Chicago.
Therefore, the Bulls at +900 would be the value play when it comes to Durant. Although, it's obvious that he wants to play for Miami or Phoenix. So keep that in mind before pulling the trigger.
