Patrick Beverly Trade Odds: Sportsbooks Not Impressed With Lakers Acquiring Beverly

Patrick Beverly Trade Odds: Sportsbooks Not Impressed With Lakers Acquiring Beverly
If you love drama, then this is the trade for you. The Los Angeles Lakers acquired Patrick Beverly in exchange for Talen Horton Tucker yesterday. First of all, back in May he was on with Stephen A. Smith and called out the Lakers for their lack of leadership. He also mentioned that he would've gotten them to the Western Conference Finals.
If you go back even further, Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverly have beef dating back to 2013. Nearly a decade! If you don't know Westbrook suffered a knee injury in the 2013 playoffs when Beverley collided with him.
Russell Westbrook called out Pat Bev in 2019 saying he doesn't guard anyone, and then earlier this year Pat fired off this tweet as a jab to Russell Westbrook.
For now, they're teammates but Russell Westbrook has been in trade rumors all summer long. If it wasn't obvious that he was on the way out in Los Angeles, this trade likely sealed his fate.
The sportsbooks however don't seem to care much that the Lakers acquired Patrick Beverly.

Lakers NBA Championship Odds +2400 (Bet $100 to win $2400)
The sportsbooks saw that the Lakers acquired Patrick Beverly and didn't change a thing. They are still given just a 4% chance to win the NBA Championship in 2022-2023. This is on the heels of one of the more disappointing Lakers seasons in recent memory.
A roster with Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, Carmello Anthony, Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, etc. finished 16 games under .500. Yes, most of those guys are on the back-nine of their career but it's still a team that should've been in a playoff spot.
Beverly is a three-time All-Defensive PG in his career. Now, at age 34, he is still someone who can play solid defense and give you enough offensively. Last year, in 58 games, he averaged 9.2 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Perhaps his defensive mindset is what the Lakers could use, although if that's the case someone should inform the sportsbooks.
